National Pies 10th Launceston to Hobart Yacht Race 2016
Start: 10.30am, 27 December, at Beauty Point
A record fleet of 48 yachts has entered the National Pies 10th Launceston to Hobart Yacht Race, representing yacht clubs in the north and south of Tasmania and also including entries from Victoria and Queensland.
The L2H is a coastal race of 285 nautical miles around the North East and East Coast of Tasmania, featuring very competitive and challenging offshore racing.
Starting from Beauty Point on the Tamar River, the fleet sails across eastern Bass Strait, through the Banks Strait and down Tasmania’s East Coast, passing inside elongated Maria Island, to round Tasman Island. From there it’s across Storm Bay to the River Derwent and the finish off Hobart’s historic Battery Point.
- The Derwent Sailing Squadron will open a ‘Race Week Village’ on the waterfront near where the L2H fleet will berth, providing up to the minute reports on the progress of the race and personal reports, video clips and photographs. The Village will open between 8am and 8pm from 27 December to 2 January.
